Cross-cutting unit 5 – Digital technology and education

Today, digital technology has become indispensable in education at all levels, from school to university, as well as in lifelong learning. The period we have just lived through with the pandemic have increased the use of digital tools for distance and hybrid learning, as well as for face-to-face learning. Multidisciplinary collaborations within the TEL (Technology Enhanced Learning) community and conferences managed by the ATIEF Society (French Scientific Society concerning Information Technologies for Teaching and Learning) have highlighted the fact that different research fields do not have the same habits, nor the same epistemology.

Research into digital education is carried out by a wide range of disciplines, including, but not limited to, computer science, educational sciences, didactics, sociology, philosophy, psychology and information/communication sciences.

We hope to address multi-disciplinary issues in this axis, in collaboration with people involved in the Research Network’s other axes.

Among the themes to be addressed in this axis, we can find :

  • The appropriation of digital and technological environments in education
  • The evolution of professions (teachers, learners) with digital technology
  • The link between digital technology and success
  • Digital engagement
  • Artificial intelligence for education
  • Educational traces and open data
